At least three people were killed on Thursday...

YLE radio station reported four dead, including three men and a woman, while MTV3 said three people had been killed.

The Ilta-Sanomat newspaper said a man wearing black clothes fired at least seven shots on the second floor of the mall. The incident took place at 10.20 a.m. local time (08:20 GMT).

Finnish media said the attacker was about 18 years old.

Earlier, YLE quoted local police as saying the four people were injured as the result of the attack.

Recent shootings have prompted Finland to tighten gun control regulations. In September 2008, a 22-year-old college student shot 10 people dead and then committed a suicide in the western town of Kauhajoki.

In November 2007, an 18-year-old student opened fire in a school building in the southern Finnish city of Tuusula. The shooting claimed the lives of nine people, including two adults, six students and the attacker, who died in hospital after a suicide attempt.
